Bedfordshire Hospitals welcomes Pippa Nightingale as new chief executive

Pippa Nightingale MBE has taken up her role as chief executive of Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust following her appointment earlier this year. A registered midwife with more than 25 years of clinical and executive leadership experience, she was previously chief executive of London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust.

At the trust, Pippa led major organisational improvements, strengthened research performance and oversaw significant service transformation for a diverse population of more than two million people.

Pippa was selected by Nursing Times in 2023 for its anniversary list of 75 nurses and midwives who have contributed significantly to the NHS, and in 2019 received an MBE for services to midwifery.

Pippa said: “I am delighted to be joining Bedfordshire Hospitals. The trust has strong foundations and a clear commitment to delivering outstanding care. I look forward to working with staff, partners and our communities as we respond to the opportunities and challenges ahead.”
