London Incubator Ball raises record-breaking amount for premature and sick babies
On the evening of 14 March 14, Ickle Pickles held its annual London Incubator Ball at the Plaisterers' Hall in central London, raising more than £88,000.
The evening’s activities to raise money for essential neonatal equipment included a silent auction sponsored by John F Hunt and an incubator draw with the top prize of a Spa Package for two at Banya No.1, Hoxton, two tickets to Banana Cabaret Comedy and dinner at The Bedford. Many other prizes for the auction and incubator draw were donated by Australian Vintners, The Norfolk Mead, Novotel West London, T-Cakes and many other individuals and businesses.
Hosted by the charity's co-founder and trustee Andrew Marsh and Ben Harvey, the event was a testament to the power of community and compassion.
All funds raised support Ickle Pickles and its appeals for a LifeStart Resuscitaire and transport ventilator.
The team at Royal London Hospital’s neonatal unit have an urgent need for a new transport ventilator to complement failing transport incubator rig. A replacement will help ensure that up to 800 babies a year are transferred safely between wards. A resuscitaire will be of great benefit to sick and premature babies and their families at Homerton Hospital.
The Ickle Pickles Children's Charity entertained guests with a show by mindreader Matt Daniel Baker, a 360° video booth and live music by the Groove Zoo band, concluding a excellent night with dancing and drinks.
Thanks to the generosity of all the attendees, a record-breaking amount for the charity was raised and will provide equipment to improve neonatal care.
Plaisterers' Hall provided the venue for a glamorous evening.
