Vygon cake sale raises funds for parent support charity

Swindon non-profit Tiny But Mighty has received a financial boost in its mission to support parents through the physical and emotional struggles of caring for a premature baby, thanks to a generous donation by medical device company Vygon UK.

Tiny But Mighty is a parent-led not-for-profit organisation offering support to parents and neonatal units across the south and south west and has helped more than 700 families since 2022.

To mark World Prematurity Day, which raises awareness and advocates for the health and wellbeing of premature babies and their families, Vygon UK hosted a ‘prematuri-tea’ bake sale at its Swindon headquarters, raising £570 for the charity. Staff and visitors enjoyed a wide range of sweet treats and found time to reflect on the challenges faced by parents with children in neonatal intensive care units.

Katie Kingston, Head of Marketing and Communications at Vygon UK, explains: “For the families of premature babies, those first joyous moments are overshadowed by uncertainty and nervousness. This distinct, yet not uncommon, journey requires additional care, attention and specialised medical treatment. Vygon is proudly committed to making the lives of premature infants and their families as safe, healthy and happy as possible.

“We actively support organisations and initiatives aiming to improve the wellbeing of premature infants and their families through donations, awareness campaigns, and the development of our innovative neonatal products and technologies. Following a successful event last year, we are delighted to again have raised funds for Tiny But Mighty this year.”

Tiny But Mighty founder Chloe Kirwan adds: “We would like to say a huge thank you to our amazing friends over at Vygon UK for supporting us for a second year with their World Prematurity Day cake sale and raising an amazing £570 for our organisation. Thank you so much to all the staff who baked and got involved.”

World Prematurity Day takes place on 17 November each year and is a reminder of the challenges faced by premature infants, their families and the healthcare professionals providing essential care during this critical period.
