Book donation will help families create meaningful moments
Reading to babies in the neonatal intensive care unit can positively influence language development, it can also help families to create special memories and form bonds with their baby.
Thanks to the generosity of The Sher Jung Foundation, the Little Roo Neonatal Fund, a charity that supports poorly and premature babies, their families and the staff who care for them on the NICU at St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey, can continue its initiative of gifting a book to every family. Its first donation of over 120 books included titles such as Our New Baby in the NICU, Welcome to the World, and The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
The Sher Jung Foundation was launched in June 2023 and operates in the UK and India. The aim of the charity is to support aspiring writers in the memory of Punjabi author Sher Jung.
Sid Hurry, Little Roo Manager, says: “We are extremely grateful for the support from The Sher Jung Foundation for our initiative of gifting a book to every family on NICU. This ongoing support will make a big difference for our tiny patients and their families, helping them to create meaningful memories through reading.”
