Sands freephone helpline introduced for bereaved parents

A new freephone number will ensure that bereaved parents

and their families will no longer have to worry about the cost

of calling the Sands stillbirth and neonatal death charity helpline.

The helpline can provide a safe, confidential place for anyone who has been affected by the death of a baby. The number is: 0808 164 3332. Bereaved parents can also email if they would prefer at: helpline@uk-sands.org

Dr Clea Harmer, Chief Executive, says: "The demand for the service from our dedicated helpline team sadly remains high as 15 babies die before, during and after birth every day in the UK. We are committed to providing emotional support and information right from the early hours after a baby's death, through to the weeks, months and years ahead."
