Bonding boost for babies as volunteers deliver kangaroo-style pouches

Babies born early will now get a jump-start in life after volunteers raised money for special kangaroo-style pouches.

Aberdeen Maternity Hospital's neonatal unit received 15 pouches from the Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire National Childbirth Trust (NCT).

Dave Cruddace, whose wife Vivienne volunteers with the NCT, ran the Crathes Half Marathon to raise £400 for the carriers.

The pouches make skin-to-skin contact between parents and their newborn simpler as they make it easier to position the baby safely while supporting breastfeeding and offering warmth, comfort and discretion.
