Strepelle launches a home-to-laboratory test for GBS

Created in partnership with midwives, a test from Strepelle has been designed to make laboratory testing for Group B Streptococcus (GBS) more available and convenient.

The test can identify the GBS bacteria in pregnant women from 35 weeks' gestation and contains everything that is needed to provide a sample to the laboratory. Results arrive within three days of receipt of the sample, either by letter, text or email. If a woman is a carrier, she can let her doctor or midwife know, and antibiotics will be administered intravenously during labour, protecting the baby from the infection.
