Combining forces for preterm infants – the European Foundation for the Care of Newborn Infants (EFCNI)
The European Foundation for the Care of Newborn Infants (EFCNI), founded in April 2008, is the first pan-European organisation and network to represent the interests of preterm and newborn infants and their families. It gathers together parents, healthcare experts from various disciplines, scientists, politicians and other stakeholders with the common goal of improving the short- and long-term health of preterm and newborn children. EFCNI is dedicated to improving the full spectrum of care by ensuring the best possible prevention, treatment, care and support, and promoting and protecting the right to the best start in life. EFCNI’s latest project, the development of European Standards of Care for Newborn Health, is supported by over 50 health professional societies, parent organisations and other third parties and is a milestone for ensuring European-wide harmonised treatment for all infants.
