The Lullaby Trust announces partnership with Teddy's Wish to help support bereaved families

The Lullaby Trust is working in partnership with the charity Teddy's Wish to support families who have lost a baby having another baby after the bereavement.

The support will enable free training for health visitors to become Care of Next Infant (CONI) co-ordinators, working directly with bereaved families at a time many find challenging.

The CONI programme provides extra support for bereaved families during pregnancy and after birth to help reduce anxiety and allow them to enjoy the first year of their baby's life. The programme offers much-needed regular contact with a health visitor, symptom diaries, weight charts and movement monitors and the support of a paediatrician.

The partnership with Teddy's Wish and the funding it provides will enable The Lullaby Trust to deliver free CONI co-ordinator training to health visitors across the UK. Both charities hope that this will open up training to areas of the country that might not have previously been able to afford it and allow more families access to the vital support offered by the CONI programme.

Founders of Teddy's wish Jennifer and Chris Reid say: "As bereaved parents ourselves we know that becoming a parent again is frightening and emotionally very confusing. The practical and emotional support we received from CONI is invaluable and will help other parents learn to manage their anxieties to allow the love and hope back into their lives."
