£9.7m to be spent on neonatal services in Swansea

Nearly £10m is being invested in neonatal services at Singleton Hospital in Swansea as part of plans to increase neonatal services across south Wales.

The Welsh Government investment in Singleton Hospital will provide a new seven-bed transitional care unit with specialist 24/7 nursing to care for infants who do not require admission to the neonatal unit, and overnight accommodation for mothers with single rooms and en-suite facilities to provide privacy and support infection control. It will also provide a permanent 12-cot special care baby unit and increase the neonatal high dependency unit capacity by two cots.

The work will start later this year and is expected to be finished by July 2019.
