£2.1m Lincoln neonatal unit opens

A newly-refurbished neonatal unit at Lincoln County Hospital is open following a

£2.1 million refurbishment. It provides one intensive care, two high dependency and 12 special care cots. Two further cots are available for babies requiring isolation.

The unit provides a more comfortable and modern space for parents to use during their baby's stay, with three parent bedrooms (two en suite), a kitchen, sitting room and baby changing facilities and a play area for siblings.

On 2 November, the unit was blessed by Reverend Alison Amelia and babies were welcomed onto the new unit two days later.

Cathy Franklin, matron for neonatal services, says: "This is a really exciting time for women's and children's services, and a fantastic investment in maternity for families in Lincolnshire. These improvements will provide an up-to-date environment in which our staff can deliver better quality care to those babies who need it."
