Devon doctor dons bee beard for Bliss

A daredevil Devon doctor has allowed thousands of honey bees to swarm around his face to form a beard to raise money for Bliss, the premature and sick baby charity.

GP and beekeeper Ben Waterfall from Barnstable said that he has always been fascinated by pictures of bee beards and wanted to attempt the challenge as a way to raise money for a good cause.

The father of three chose to raise money for Bliss because it is a charity that holds a special place in his

heart. Three years ago, Ben's wife Subhani gave birth to twins, Sam and Niroshini, 10 weeks prematurely at

Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

The fundraiser took place at Quince Honey Farm in South Molton, and the stunt was achieved by placing a caged queen bee on Ben's chin and attracting the worker bees to swarm around her, forming a beard.

So far he has raised over £850 for the charity.
