Child Bereavement UK hosts its sixth Annual Neonatal Palliative and End-of-Life Conference

Over 100 delegates gathered in Wimpole Street in London at the start of February for Child Bereavement UK's sixth Annual Neonatal conference.

Held in the Royal Society of Medicine building, this conference brought together practitioners and other agencies from throughout the country as well as some international visitors to hear the latest on palliative and end-of-life care for neonates.

Chaired by Neena Modi, Professor of Neonatal Medicine, Imperial College London and Dr Patrick Carragher, Medical Director, Children's Hospice Association Scotland, presentations covered a wide range of topics including organ donation, how men and women grieve, ethical issues, and a report on the work of a neonatal in-reach project. Co-organiser Alex Mancini, Pan London Lead Nurse for neonatal palliative care, spoke of a project aimed at reducing inefficiencies in the delivery of consistent high quality neonatal palliative care and facilitating smooth care pathways for each baby and its family.

Julie Ellison, Child Bereavement UK Training Manager, said: "Again this year we have welcomed colleagues from Sweden, so we hope that the information that we share is spreading across Europe."
