RCM and Lansinoh form alliance to support and promote breastfeeding

Lansinoh recently joined the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) Alliance Programme. The focus of the partnership is to support and promote breastfeeding by providing information and resources for midwives, student midwives and maternity support workers (MSW).

The RCM Alliance programme began in 2004 and has consistently developed to improve and promote the interest of midwives, and to support pregnant women and their babies.

Lansinoh has been providing products and information for health professionals to help mothers initiate and sustain breastfeeding for over 15 years in the UK. It conducts annual surveys into breastfeeding attitudes and behaviours, along with clinical studies, to inform its work.

Through the partnership with the RCM, Lansinoh is extending its support of health professionals by inviting member feedback to inform the development of new resources and products as well as collaborating to develop breastfeeding information and aids.

The company ran sessions for MSWs at the RCM's MSW Conference in June and will be exhibiting at both the Annual Conference in October 2016 and the European Midwives Association Conference in December 2016. It has regularly exhibited at previous RCM conferences and is sponsoring the 'Team of the Year' award at the 2017 RCM Annual Midwifery Awards.

Lansinoh is looking to work closely with members of the RCM to really understand their individual breastfeeding support practices, in order to better inform all UK health professionals.

Lansinoh's in-house healthcare professional, Midwife Wendy Blackwood, said: "The RCM and

Lansinoh partnership aims to add value to both midwife and mother and ultimately seeks to have a positive impact on breastfeeding rates in the UK. By working together, we will provide midwives and health professionals with an invaluable resource."

Commenting on the new partnership RCM Director for Business Services Chris Truman said: "Lansinoh has been providing information and products to mothers and healthcare professionals for many years, so this partnership makes sense as it's a natural fit for the RCM. We are delighted to be working in alliance with Lansinoh and we look forward to a positive partnership arrangement that will benefit our members and, in turn, the women and babies that midwives care for."
